Nickson Kasue Founder & President of Pioneer Care Living

Nickson

Founder & President

Nickson was born and raised in Kenya as part of the Kamba tribe and moved to the United States at age 21. With over 32 years as a Registered Nurse, he has cared for patients across all stages of life, from newborns to individuals on ventilators and those with disabilities. His dedication to compassionate care is matched by his passion for humanitarian efforts. Through charity, Beacon Humanitarian International, he is instrumental in drill water wells in Kenya, working tirelessly to prevent childhood thirst, hunger, and mortality caused by contaminated water—an effort he is committed to for life. Outside of work, Nickson finds solace in hiking and the great outdoors, embracing nature as a place of peace and renewal. He has a strong aversion to dirty houses and bugs but appreciates simple joys like Ugali, a traditional cornmeal mash eaten with stew, and sweet treats like chocolate chip cookies, trail mix, and donuts. While Pepsi is his preferred drink, he’ll settle for a Coke when needed. His favorite takeout? Kentucky Fried Chicken—a love that began the moment he arrived in the U.S. Nickson’s life is defined by service, resilience, and a deep connection to his roots. Whether providing care, advocating for clean water, or exploring the natural world, he remains committed to making a lasting impact.

Susan Wheelwright Executive Administrator with Pioneer Care Living

Susan

Executive Administrator

Susan was born in San Bernardino, California, and adopted at just a month old, growing up in Salt Lake City, Utah, with the most incredible parents. With 30 years in the healthcare industry, she has worked across insurance companies, providers, and home health agencies, specializing in managed care, post-acute care, contract negotiations, and relationship management. Her passion for healthcare runs deep, fueled by a commitment to enhancing community well-being. She takes immense pride in contributing to services that positively impact lives while driving innovation and fostering collaboration. Outside of work, Susan cherishes time with family and friends and loves boating, 4-wheeling, camping, hiking, and embracing the great outdoors—finding peace in nature. However, snakes and spiders are definitely not on her list of favorite things. Having reached two and a half years of sobriety, she treasures recovery, her fellowship family, and the opportunity to give service, especially in listening to and supporting another alcoholic. When it comes to food, her favorites include Greek yogurt with granola, pumpkin seeds, and chocolate chips. For treats, she can’t resist Sam’s Club chocolate chip cookies mixed with Greek yogurt or her mom’s homemade chocolate cake—an absolute masterpiece! Diet Coke is her drink of choice, with no exceptions, and for takeout, Francesco’s Pizza always hits the spot. Susan’s journey is one of resilience, service, and dedication, with a life deeply rooted in empowering others and embracing meaningful connections.

Judy Kasue Founder & Vice President of Pioneer Care Living

Judy

Founder & Vice President

Judy was born and raised in Kenya as part of the Meru tribe and moved to the United States at age 23. A talented beautician, she owns and operates Baraka Salon, a name that reflects her belief in bringing blessings to others. She is deeply passionate about making a difference in people’s lives—whether through a conversation, a kind gesture, or empowering the next generation. She finds joy in meaningful connections, regularly reaching out to friends, neighbors, and clients, both old and new. In her spare time, Judy embraces her love for Thai food, but she’ll make an exception for Kentucky Fried Chicken when dining with Nickson. Her favorite treat is Chevada, a spiced rice snack mixed with chips and chili, and she enjoys unwinding with a warm cup of English tea prepared with milk and water. Though she has a strong aversion to heights and snakes, she remains fearless in her commitment to uplifting others and creating positive change in her community.
